The consistory is elected annually for a two-year term. The consistory consists of six deacons and six elders, with three of each being newly elected each year. The potential consistory members are nominated by current consistory. There are 6 nominations each for elder and deacon. The nominations are posted in the church bulletin for a few weeks, in the event that there is concern amongst the congregation about one of the nominees. We then elect the 3 new deacons and 3 new elders by way of a popular vote at the annual congregational meeting in November. The terms start each January.
